Bruce Grove
At last, the splendidly-restored waiting room at Bruce Grove, dating from 1872, is now open, seen here on the afternoon of Saturday, 24th February 2024. However, nobody seemed to want to use it, it was empty when I arrived while a crowd of passengers preferred to wait outside in the pouring rain. Thought should now be given to restoring the roofs to the stairwells to the platforms that were removed by BR Eastern Region in the early 1980s. On this afternoon, there were deep puddles on them and it is quite a climb up steep flights of steps too. No lifts.
