Alexandra Palace

Unfortunately marred by road works in the foreground, this is the surviving original GNR entrance building to Alexandra Palace station that opened as Wood Green in 1859 and became the junction for the Enfield branch in 1871 which was extended back to the main line at Stevenage to form the Hertford North Loop in 1918. The station was renamed Alexandra Palace in 1982 and is not to be confused with the original GNR terminus by the palace walls that almost became part of the LU Northern Line but closed instead in 1954. Seen from a W3 bus on 8th May 2024.
