Royton

The Royton branch was just under one and a half miles long, but for many years was busy with passenger and freight trains. The double track line closed in 1966 but can be walked from near the terminus, towards the junction, for about a mile although the final section has been built on. Two stone bridges survive over the tarmac cycle path, this being Turf Lane. This was the view in the direction of Royton in March 2024.
