Diggle Junction

The track in the foreground occupies the solum of the goods lines south of Diggle Junction. These diverged here from the original Standedge route swinging left onto the Micklehurst Loop. Almost immediately they entered Butterhouse Tunnel, now blocked off, and then dropped down through Uppermill and other stations to rejoin the main line at Stalybridge. In this June 2024 scene, 185144 climbs past the divergence with a TPE Manchester to York service.
