Silloth Battery Extension

The Silloth Battery Extension Railway ran south from Silloth Dock for about half a mile to serve Armstrong Whitworth's Naval Gun Testing Battery. Sometimes known as the Blitterlees Branch, it opened in 1886 and closed in 1928 when the battery operations were moved to Eskmeals near Ravenglass. This is part of the trackbed, now used by Silloth Golf Club, photographed in August 2024 looking south from one of the public footpaths that cross the links.
