Carnforth Midland Shed

The Midland Railway roundhouse at Carnforth closed in 1944 when the LMS transferred its allocation to their new Carnforth Shed, now the home of West Coast Railways. Eighty years later, the MR shed is still in industrial use as 158845 passes with a Morecambe to Leeds service on 25th September. Many of the windows have been bricked up, buttresses have been added to the side walls and the roof has been replaced but it is still a recognisable railway building. See image 21521 taken from the old shed yard.
