Hattersley

323224 slows to call at Hattersley's island platform, with a service heading for Piccadilly on 30th October 2024. Hattersley opened in 1978 and the island platform as built could accommodate 6-coach trains. However, some other stations on the line have shorter platforms so it only usually sees 3-car EMUs and the maintained area has been cut back. The cutting behind the train once had two short tunnels but these were opened out for the Woodhead electrification, one being replaced by the girder bridge in the middle-distance.
