Seaton Delaval

View towards Ashington from the new station at Seaton Delaval, on the second day of the reopened line, at 10. 48 on Monday, 16th December 2024. This was originally double track here with the new station on the site of the former lifted track towards Newcastle. The original station with two platforms and proper buildings, closed with the line in 1964 and now demolished, was just to the north, this side of the bridge in the background. A UK Railtours visit to the North Blyth freight branch, via the Morpeth to Bedlington line, travelled back to Newcastle this way, and on which I was a passenger, on 7th April 2018.
