View from 158817, ex-11.30 Northern service from Ashington to Newcastle, passing the junction at Bedlington with the freight line to Morpeth via Choppington, at 11.35 on the second day of the Ashington line's reopening, Monday, 16th December 2024. The Morpeth line closed to passengers in 1950, fourteen years before the Ashington line, but has not been included in the 2024 reopening, despite the convenient connections this would give with the ECML at Morpeth, especially to the north. However, a UK Railtours' excursion traversed this line on 7th April 2018 (see my photo image 76439 passing the site of Choppington station).
