Edinburgh Waverley

A very wet 5th June 1965 at Waverley as 60052 'Prince Palatine' awaits departure with the 'A3 Farewell' railtour, which I would have loved to have gone on. The tour was routed ECML to Newcastle, over to Carlisle then back via the Waverley Route, although sadly for the participants the A3 was taken off at Carlisle with a hot axlebox bearing and 60027 'Merlin' took over. It wasn`t the final farewell for 60052 though as she lasted another six months before being stopped with leaking pipes on 8th December 1965 and finally condemned on 17th January 1966.
