Riccarton Junction

The south end of Riccarton, seen from a hillside overlooking the railway, in late July or early August 1969. The Waverley Route had closed earlier that year but a lot of the infrastructure remained pending demolition including Riccarton South signal box and signals. The trackbed of the Border Counties Railway can be seen in front of the `box, with the Carlisle line heading off into the distance.
