Ryde St John's Road: You wont see these here again. 1938 tube stock (class 483s) waiting rather desperately to be replaced by class 484s in 2018.

Aviemore Shed: Re-instating tracks to connect up to the shed at Aviemore in June 1974. The worms eye view is south towards the station with the HML on the right as jacking and packing takes place. See image [[27699]] for the view in the opposite direction when the alignment was being surveyed.

Ardrossan Montgomerie Pier: Scene at Montgomerie Pier, Ardrossan, on 14 August 1964 with a Glasgow bound boat train awaiting its departure time. At the head of the train is one of Corkerhill shed's BR Standard class 4MT 2-6-0s no 76114.

Easter Road Park Halt: The 1953 1:1250 OS map correctly shows Easter Road Park as a 'Halt' with a bare platform on the Leith-bound side only. However in their annual Edinburgh Atlas Guide for 1950 local boys Bartholomew's big it up somewhat and make it look like a full station. In fact it was only used on (some?) match days and was for arriving trains only!

Stow: Station Road at Stow on 15th May 2016. Anyone walking along here between January 1969 and September 2015, hoping to catch a train to Edinburgh or Carlisle (or maybe even Riccarton Junction), would have been confronted by a disused derelict station following the closure of the Waverley Route. Fortunately, this mistake was partially rectified when the first 30 miles south from Edinburgh to the new station at Tweedbank were reopened in 2015. Having brought trains back to Stow, and the important Borders town of Galashiels, the campaign to extend all the way back to Carlisle continues and bring trains back to Melrose and Hawick.

Hornsey: View from a passing train of D5649, with Mk1 Suburban stock, at Hornsey depot in 1972 when they were used on services to and from Moorgate. The Brush Type 2 is buffered against a Cravens DMU, which were used on Kings Cross suburban services at that time.

Haydock Branch Junction: This remnant of the St. Helens Central branch survives in 2021 as a headshunt for trains to reverse into Edge Green stone terminal. This view looks towards Haydock and St. Helens with the terminal entrance and link to the WCML behind the camera. Although regular passenger services ceased in 1952 the nearby Haydock Park Racecourse station continued to receive special trains until 1963. Goods services ran through to St Helens Central until 1965 when they were cut back to Ashton-in-Makerfield. That section continued in use until as late as 1989 before closure. The last trains to use it carried bitumen, traffic that now runs to Preston Dock, and just this stub now remains.

Kirkham: Stanier Coronation class pacific 6233, in LMS lined black livery, heads to Blackpool North with a railtour on 5 June 2010. The train is seen at the end of the former CE sidings (out of sight to the right) west of Kirkham with the photograph taken from a foot crossing. With the electrification of the line in 2017/2018 the foot crossing was replaced with a footbridge.
