Woodacre Crossing: A run out from Kingmoor for 37402, taking 66433 to Crewe and seen here passing Woodacre on 6th March 2021. The reason for the drag became apparent as they passed with several wheel flats on the 66 knocking loudly.
Aviemore: The gradient profile maps inside Aviemore North Signal box in April 1980, showing some of the fierce gradients either side of Aviemore. For a great many years these necessitated double heading or banking engines.
Edinburgh Waverley: The early morning sun casts long shadows over Princes Street and Waverley station, with the time approaching 0700 on 28 July 2007. Arriving stage left is a semi-fast from Glasgow Queen Street formed by a Scotrail DMU in Commonwealth Games promotional livery. Meantime, alongside platform 19, EWS 67022 is preparing to get underway with the late running Aberdeen portion of the sleeper, at this point more than two hours behind schedule. The engineering works are in connection with ongoing platform and track modifications.

East Kilbride: A Class 156 sits at East Kilbride terminus in July 1997. The second track was then still in place. Perhaps this will be restored, and the station enlarged, when electrification comes. Meh, I should live as long. Class 156s are still the unvarying fare 24 years on, but are usually paired up.
Birmingham St Chads [Tram]: Midland Metro (since renamed West Midlands Metro) No.29 with a Birmingham to Wolverhampton service arriving at Snow Hill (since renamed St. Chad's), on 8th December 2016.
Aberdour: 66051 Maritime Intermodal Four waits at Aberdour on 28th February 2021, with a ballast train for dropping between there and Burntisland.
Balornock Shed: A4 60004 'William Whitelaw' gets ready to leave St Rollox shed, to take charge of the 5.30pm Glasgow Buchanan St-Aberdeen three-hour express on 27th July 1963. Black 5 44923 is alongside.
Halton [NWR]: Looking towards Lancaster along the old line from Wennington in February 2021. This point, just to the south of Halton, is where the line passed under the M6 motorway between 1960 and the 1966 closure. In the foreground is a concrete occupation bridge, built to replace an older structure that lay directly in the path of the motorway. Beyond the M6 is a further bridge, dating from 2016, which carries the Bay Gateway link road over the cycleway and the River Lune.
