Bathgate Yard: Contrast in Bathgate yard in 1965, between the still relatively new Standard Class 2MT 2-6-0 78050, less than ten years old, and the venerable ex-NBR J36 65243 'Maude', by then more than seventy years of age.

Filey Holiday Camp: The buffer stops at the end of platform 4 of the former Filey Holiday Camp station in October 2009. The A165 Scarborough - Hull road runs past the site at a higher level beyond the trees in the background. The rubble on the concourse is the remains of the single storey building that once served the station. The disused tunnel under the road, originally used by the Butlins Road-Trains to transport holidaymakers between here and the camp itself is located off picture to the left.

Lancaster: TPE 397004 slows to call at Lancaster, working from Lime Street to Glasgow Central on 9th March 2021. The train is crossing a particularly pleasant stretch of the Lancaster Canal, which approaches the city centre from the south alongside Aldcliffe Lane.

College Goods: The triangular patch of land between the railways was the fan of lines approaching the G&SWR's College Goods yard (which was to the left) and the approach to the original College station terminus. An unidentified class 334 unit approaches High Street from the east. Beyond the 334 was High Street Goods. The CGU can be seen bottom right. Photograph taken during a site inspection of the adjacent building site in March 2021.

Arram: Arram Station is sited on a country road leading to the remote Arram village and is located to the rear of, and connected by a lane to, the Leconfield Airfield and army base north of Beverley. The platforms are offset either side of a level crossing, with the southbound platform and station house to the south of the crossing. I had just parked up and was approaching the crossing when the barriers were activated and a northbound ex Scotrail Class 170 3-car DMU approached at speed before I turned on the camera. No sooner had this passed, and I had starting walking onto the southbound platform, before the barriers came down again for a further ex Scotrail 170 to race through southbound. 170460 is seen approaching the level crossing heading for Beverley and Hull.

Grain Crossing Halt: UK Railtours' excursion to the Grain freight branch passing Grain Crossing Halt as it runs into the terminus at Grain, on 29th December 2016. The line beyond to Port Victoria closed in 1951 and, at the same time, Grain Crossing Halt was replaced by a new station just to the east called simply Grain. However, this only lasted ten years until all services on the line, and the branch to Allhallows-on-Sea that had only opened in 1932, were withdrawn in December 1961. In 1974, a campaign to restore passenger services on the line was started but met with little enthusiasm and was quickly forgotten. However, in the April 2021 edition of Todays Railways, a report states that Medway Council has opened a public consultation into a proposal to again restore passenger services but only on part of the line. This envisages a new station called Hoo, near the site of the former Sharnal Street station, as a new terminus. There are no plans to reopen through to Grain nor to reopen the Allhallows branch.

Edinburgh Waverley: Class 117s still had more than two years to go on peak hour Fife locals when this one was snapped leaving Waverley's Platform 16 in May 1997. The points motor for the stabling siding seems to have been renewed recently.
