Bournemouth: Unrebuilt Bulleid West Country Pacific 34038 'Lynton', with steam sanders in use, is seen starting out from Bournemouth Station heading for London Waterloo Station on 27 August 1965. The loco looks a tad tired, with a section of top casing missing, and it was withdrawn from service in June the following year. It was cut up at Cashmore's in Newport in September that year, exactly 20 years to the month from when it entered service.

Greenock Central: A Gourock to Glasgow service in the shape of a Class 303 calls at Greenock Central in July 1998. In those days litter bins on platforms were deliberately conspicuous though this one was obviously treated as decoration. Stations are tidier now though whether that is down to better maintenance or a change in public attitude I am not qualified to say.

Grain: UK Railtours' excursion behind 66151 just arrived at Grain, terminus of the freight only branch from Gravesend, looking back towards the latter on 17th November 2018. This closed to passengers in December 1961; until 1951 the line had continued to Port Victoria. After this truncation, the intermediate Grain Crossing Halt was replaced by a new island platform station called simply Grain but this lasted only 10 years and was demolished. The grass between the tracks marks the site of its short-lived island platform.

Bishop's Lydeard: GWR Mogul 9315 heading for Bishops Lydeard, West Somerset Railway, on 30 May 2010. This 2-6-0 locomotive is a conversion from a GWR Large Prairie 2-6-2T, formerly No. 5193. The conversion took place at Minehead around 2004 and it was overhauled again in 2019 and is now back in service. (Apart from Covid restrictions)
