Johnshaven: Taken during a walk from Johnshaven to Gourdon on the Bervie branch in March 2021. An old railway metal fence post still standing alongside the trackbed to the north of Johnshaven.
St Johns Junction: The RCTS Scottish Lowlander photographed during its stop near St Johns Junction, Glasgow, on 26 September 1964. The railtour had started from Crewe and arrived here via the WCML, Waverley Route, Edinburgh Sub and E&G. 60009 Union of South Africa had taken over the train at Niddrie West and would continue on the return journey as far as Carlisle (running via Kilmarnock and Dumfries). See image [[76178]].
St Enoch [Subway]: Original entrance to St. Enoch station, Glasgow Subway, on 18th May 2016. A distinctive Victorian red sandstone building in Flemish Renaissance style, dating from the 1896 opening. Preserved during the modernisation of the Subway in the period 1977-1980, it became a Travel Centre when a new entrance to the station was opened. It became disused when the Travel Centre was moved to the Subway ticket hall in 2008 but was converted into a cafe in 2009. It is now a Category A Listed Building. The ghastly shopping centre on the left, with no redeeming architectural features whatsoever, insultingly stands on the site of the former 12 platform GSWR St. Enoch terminus, opened in 1876 and closed in 1966.
Dalgety Bay: ROG 57312 thunders through Dalgety Bay on 22 March 2021 with five barrier vehicles in tow, on its way from Derby to Dundee to collect stored Mk3 coaches, possibly these (see image [[74431]]). Confirmed that four coaches were taken to Booth's, Masboro, two days later.
Buchanan Street: Just the thing for a fine summer evening. 'Number 9' runs smoothly into Glasgow's Buchanan St station a couple of minutes early with 'The Granite City' three-hour express from Aberdeen on 9th July 1965.
Swindon: 1C17 GWR Azuma 800-014, westbound at the Stratton footbridge at Swindon, with a Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads service. My first outing for railway images since December and the sun shone.
Kenyon Junction: TPE 802211, from Lime Street to Newcastle, is running between Parkside Junction and Kenyon Junction on 8th February 2021. The train is approaching the tunnel like bridge under Kenyon Lane that spans the deep cutting. These bi-mode trains can operate from the overhead wires between Liverpool and Manchester but then it is diesel power over the Pennines.
Fairlie: An aerial view of the repairs to the line at Fairlie taken on the 25th. Track and overhead line have been repaired.
Boat of Garten: External restoration in progress at Boat of Garten North SB in June 1974, with a pair of Barclay 0-4-0ST locos parked on what had been (in LMS and BR days at least) the down line. Nearest the camera is 'Forth' (ex Granton Gas Works) and beyond is 'Dailuaine'
Eskbank and Dalkeith: A southbound train on the Borders Railway runs through the abandoned platforms of the original (1847) Eskbank and Dalkeith station on a fine May morning in 2016. The next scheduled stop will be at its 2015 replacement, less than half a mile further on.
Appleby: Stanier 2-8-0 48151 on a Cumbrian Mountain Express at Appleby getting the right of way in the early 90s. Thirty years on the 8F is still regularly seen on S&C excursions.
Totteridge and Whetstone: LUL 1995 stock on a Northern Line service from High Barnet to Kennington via Charing Cross departing from Totteridge & Whetstone on 5th March 2016. This station was opened by the GNR on 1st April 1872 and transferred to the LPTB 68 years to the day later on 1st April 1940. For many years, despite being shown as Totteridge & Whetstone on the LU diagram, it was described simply as Totteridge on station nameboards but that has now been rectified.
