Arram: Arram Station is sited on a country road leading to the remote Arram village and is located to the rear of, and connected by a lane to, the Leconfield Airfield and army base north of Beverley. The platforms are offset either side of a level crossing, with the southbound platform and former station house to the south of the crossing, as seen in this view.

Kings Cross: The west side of King's Cross, with the entrance to the suburban platforms, seen from the Great Northern Hotel in 1994. From this viewpoint today you would see little except the roof of the 21st century station extension. The hotel has become 5-star since my stay, though it closed down in between and was derelict for 12 years.

Crich Tramway Museum: No. 510, Sheffield's Last Tram, or so it seemed when the system closed in 1960 when nobody could have foreseen their return under the name South Yorkshire Supertram, seen here at Crich Tramway Village on 13th September 2014.

Tulloch Viaduct: BR Scottish Region's 'Grand Tour no.7' was a day excursion from Edinburgh to Mallaig, and the train is seen here as it turns south from Tulloch for the climb to Corrour summit in April 1969. The locomotive was BRCW Type 2 5357.

Medstead and Four Marks: LNER A4 60019 'Bittern' adds to the cotton wool sky as it heads east to Medstead & Four Marks on the Mid-Hants Railway on 6 March 2010. Bittern is now (2021) in dry storage near Brighton, awaiting a heavy general overhaul.

Ballinhassig: The very inconveniently sited Ballinhassig Station, a stiff climb up from Halfway around half a mile away. The platform is visible and the former station masters house is now a private dwelling. Bandon is to the left and Cork to the right with the track entering Ballinhassig or Goggins Hill Tunnel, now blocked by a new house and garden. There was a ropeway here from Ballinphellic Brickworks about 3.5 miles distant down hill which gives some idea of the steep gradient. This was the temporary eastern terminus of the line from Bandon between 1849 and 1851 when the extension to Cork was opened. Closed 1961.

Woodacre Crossing: DB 66067, still in EWS livery, takes a fully loaded intermodal from Daventry to Grangemouth through Woodacre on 6th March 2021. I have been visiting Woodacre Crossing, and later its footbridge, for many years and it has seen me through the Covid lockdown but it will be good to vary the photography locations a little as restrictions are eased in 2021.
