Kinsale: Kinsale Station survives as a private dwelling and associated business premises despite closing in 1931. The branch from Kinsale Junction (latterly Crossbarry) opened in 1863. There were extensive facilities provided - with four tracks between the passenger platform to the right and the goods shed and loading bank to the left. Further to the left, and out of the picture, was a carriage siding and a further siding for loading cattle. An engine shed with a small turntable in front was provided at the Kinsale Junction end of the platform. It is not clear if remains of the shed and turntable survive, access into the private property not being possible.

Swindon: Freightliner 59203, in the new orange livery, eastbound from Whatley Quarry to Oxford, Banbury sidings (Reporting No 648Q) Behind the train are the access lines into the Keypoint Industrial Estate. Barely worn, installed over 20 years ago and to my knowledge never used. It stops short of the Honda Estate but Honda did not want it as they were a motor based company not rail orientated. See image [[20060]] from the same spot before electrification.

Edinburgh Waverley: A 1996 scene on Waverley's concourse, during shiny floor days. The departures board is out of service so a no-tech solution has been employed. Note the PORTIS ticket machines; they could only store so many destinations so a fat fares manual had to be consulted for less common ones! They were replaced when automatic barriers came in.

The Queen's: Looking west from London Road bridge at St. Margarets in 1989. On the right is the former siding to the (wagon) Sheet Shed, destroyed by fire in 1922. On the left was located the Queens Platform, built in 1850 for Queen Victoria (being convenient for Holyrood Palace) and used for about thirty years. This picture was taken during the short period prior to electrification when the this stretch of line was experimentally relaid at 2' gauge as a potential cost saving measure.

Crossbarry: Crossbarry, formerly Kinsale Junction, in July 2020. This is a view from the former trackbed just east of a level crossing over what were originally 4 tracks at the east end of the station. A small turntable was sited in the space bounded by the walls.

Inverness: A 4-car Class 158 boards at Inverness's Platform 3 in October 1997. Note the trees between Platforms 1 and 2; for a number of reasons arboriculture has never been a feature of stations and one wonders what they were thinking. The trees are certainly not there now.
