Morpeth: UK Railtours' excursion from Kings Cross passing Morpeth station in Northumberland and crossing the southbound track to take the freight line to Bedlington via Choppington (closed to passengers on 3rd April 1950), on 7th April 2018. The train continued south beyond Bedlington to Newsham where it reversed on its way to North Blyth. It then returned direct to Newcastle along the freight only line through Seaton Delavel. Alas, it did not go to Ashington; however, funding for the reopening of the Newcastle to Ashington line to passengers was granted in January 2021 but not including Morpeth to Bedlington.

Thornton Shed [2nd]: Ex-NB J36 65345 on stationary boiler duty at Thornton MPD in September 1966. She was to be one of the last two steam locomotives in service in Scotland, along with J36 65288 of Dunfermline shed. These two were I believe the last remaining nineteenth-century locomotives in active BR operation anywhere in the UK, though in the case of 65345 that would depend on whether you regarded 1900, its year of construction, as the last year of the 19th or the first year of the 20th. 65345 was replaced as stationary boiler by one of Thornton’s J38s not long after the picture was taken, and returned to further active service over the 1966-1967 winter, mostly as pilot around Seafield colliery. She steamed for the last time in April 1967 and was withdrawn at the beginning of June, after 67 years of service.

Dunmanway: Remarkably, an intact water column survives at what would have been the western end of the down platform at Dunmanway. Although somewhat enclosed by vegetation, the water column has recently been painted and appears in good condition, nearly 60 years after closure in 1961.

Walkden Low Level: This huge and high bridge carries the L&YR Manchester to Wigan (via Atherton) line over the trackbed of the Bolton Great Moor Street LNWR branch at Walkden. Walkden Low Level station was immediately beyond the next overbridge but has been cleared away. Walkden (High Level) station is a short distance to the left of the large bridge, which used to carry four tracks but now only two.

Symington [2nd]: Approximately half a mile south east of Symington Junction the Symington, Biggar and Broughton Railway crossed a bridge over the Clachan Burn. Photograph taken on 21 March 2011 looking east towards Coulter, more than 45 years after the line had closed to all traffic.

Craigentinny Depot: The shed of Craigentinny Wheel Lathe is a great deal shorter than most trains it has to deal with. There is therefore nowhere for this TPE Class 802 to hide its face while having its nether regions attended to on 8 April 2021.

St James's Park: LU roundel on the eastbound platform at St James's Park, Circle and District Lines, opened by the Metropolitan District Railway on 24th December 1868 with the first stage of the line from South Kensington to Westminster Bridge (renamed simply Westminster in 1907), on 21st March 2021. This is the only roundel sign on this station to show its name as St. James's Park, the others show St James Park without the apostrophe.
