Nuneaton: Three for the price of one. Unusually, the 19.51 to Euston is waiting for the right time to depart - short of passengers, maybe? Strawberry pink 66070 is heading North with container train 442L from DIRFT to Mossend, while the 170 on the right is arriving from Leamington, to return at 20.16 with the currently 2-hourly service. There are buses on the odd hours, but they often run empty.
NRM Shildon: NER J21 0-6-0 65033 has been moved by the Locomotive Conservation and Learning Trust to the Stainmore Railway at Kirkby Stephen East in 2021. This former NER station is a fitting location and also contains many other historic NER railway vehicles. The loco is seen as a static exhibit at Shildon in 2012 but restoration to working order is planned.
Blundellsands and Crosby: A Southport to Hunts Cross service calls at Blundellsands and Crosby on 8 June 2021. As appeared usual on Southport line services this was a 6-car unit with 508128 leading 507008.
King's Gate Junction: The last traces of early morning mist give way to light rain at Kings Gate on a chilly November morning in 2019. The train approaching the points and about to enter the single line section to Fushiebridge is the ScotRail 0823 Edinburgh - Tweedbank.
Perth: The Platform 4 Up starter at Perth with its various accesories. The old-tech theatre box (showing 'M' for main) surely dates from the 1962 installation of the power box. There is talk of an upgrade to the signalling and trackwork to speed up the southern approach to the station
Chalk Farm: LUL 1995 stock on a southbound Northern Line service to Kennington via Charing Cross at Chalk Farm on 5th June 2021. These large tiled station name wall signs can be seen at many deep level tube stations. For decades, they were covered up by advertising hoardings but that has happily now been removed to reveal them in all their glory. This is another station designed by Leslie W. Green, the London Underground's Chief Architect during the Edwardian era who was sadly only 34 when he died in 1908 but left a wonderful legacy of many splendid tube stations.
Donibristle Siding: A very early start to capture ROG 37608, passing the site of Donibristle siding on 16th June 2021, with four ex-GW Mk3s (and four barrier coaches) from Dundee to Booths, Masborough for scrapping. The special movement was running thirty one minutes early!
Didcot Parkway: Colas Rail Freight 70805 passing Didcot on 27th April 2021. This freight, running from Bescot to Eastleigh with engineering wagons, was just one of many seen at Didcot that day.
Lea Road Watertroughs: Main deck girders in place on the Lea Viaduct, carrying a new road over the railway between Salwick and the site of the new Cottam Parkway station, which will have a road link to this. 156424 passes under the new structure heading for Kirkham, where it will take the Blackpool South branch, on 14th June 2021.
Windermere: 195131 has recently arrived at Windermere from Oxenholme in the early afternoon of 29 May 2021. All passengers were having their tickets checked before leaving the station, however I quickly took some photos and rejoined the train (heading to Manchester Airport) to return to Preston. In the last 15 years I have now seen Class 175s, 185s and now a 195 at this Lake District station. What a pity that it hasn't included a Class 331 EMU as the planned electrification from Oxenholme was shelved.
Fazakerley: 507015 calls at Fazakerley on 8 June 2021, whilst on a Liverpool Central to Kirkby service. The ticket office is on the right behind the camera on Longmoor Lane and has ramps and lifts at footbridge level to connect with the platforms.
