Uffington: 59204, eastbound at Longcot on the GWML near Uffington, on 17th June 2021, which was not the brightest of days. The consist is made up of a fully loaded stone train from Whatley Quarry to Oxford Banbury Road. Reporting number 663S.

Plockton: 158705 calls at Plockton, working from Kyle to Inverness on 10th July 2012. This is by far the busiest intermediate station on the Kyle line beyond Dingwall, averaging almost 12,000 passengers per annum.

Nuneaton: I cannot remember what this screen on the island platform 6 and 7 normally says, but on 27th May 2021, it was showing a bunch of suggestions about how to revive a duff computer. One of these said disable the driver - you would think ASLEF would have something to say about that from a health and Safety viewpoint ...

Hopetown Carriage Works: The north wing of the former Hopetown Carriage Works, Darlington, built by the Stockton and Darlington Railway in 1853. Photograph taken in October 2008, at which time this section of the building was in use as a workshop by the North Eastern Locomotive Preservation Group, while the south wing had been occupied for some time by the A1 Locomotive Trust during construction of 60163 Tornado. Alexandria: A Balloch service calls at unpretentious Alexandria on 9 June 2021. Despite what you might have heard, the library at Alexandria is not even singed. I didn't ask whether they had the scrolls.

Largs: Largs Community Garden looking north in June 2021. Sometime Platform 2 on the left, with the high wall built on the edge of Platform 1 so the platform is behind and now a walkway to Morrison's. The bush to the right is about where the Jumbo station pilot used to sit on Fair Holidays. Attractive as the scene is now, I'd prefer the Jumbo any day.

Acton Main Line: Acton Main Line, originally opened in 1868, looking east towards Paddington, on 22nd May 2021. After a long delay, the new footbridge and ticket hall, incorporating lifts to give step free access for the first time in the station's 153 year history, was opened on 18th March 2021. The obsolete up platform on the main line tracks (on right) is now fenced off while, further right, the down platform has been demolished.
