Westfield Disposal Point: The east exit from Westfield opencast in 2005. The exist lines had been realigned to the north to allow further opencasting. Note the location of the brick shed on the left. This had been on the north side of the yard and 'main' line with the original layout and was afterwards on the south side of the yard and 'main' line. Some of the earlier course remained, very overgrown, for a few metres.

Westfield Disposal Point: The eastern exit from the yard at Westfield in 1989. This end of the yard, and around half a mile of line to the east, were diverted to allow expansion of the opencast. Note the location of the red brick building on the right hand side of the yard line and 'main' line.

Aquarium [Brighton]: Volk's Electric Railway train at Aquarium, the western terminus in Brighton city centre, about to depart to Black Rock on 14th June 2021. This is the world's oldest electric railway, opened on 3rd August 1883 and named after its designer Magnus Volk (1851-1937). It runs for just over a mile along the beach with a gauge of 2ft. 8 and a half inches. Aquarium once had an island platform but that on the north side (left) has been out of use for many years and is now fenced off while, sadly, the line was shortened slightly at the eastern end in 1990 when Black Rock station was re-sited.

Alexandria: Examples of the pre-1997 Strathclyde Transport logo are now rare indeed; after all its replacement was itself superseded in 2008. This example is at Alexandria, and is in good nick considering its age. Doesn't the logo look dated though? To my mind it always did.
