Gorgie East: Looking north towards the bridge over Gorgie Road carrying the Edinburgh South Suburban Line, on 20th July 2017. The line closed to passengers in 1962 but survives for freight and occasional passenger diversions and has been the subject of much speculation regarding a reopening to passengers in recent years but so far to no effect. Gorgie East station, opened in 1884 as Gorgie and renamed in 1952, was on the embankment on the right.

Woolfold: The last train, a goods service from Tottington, ran over Woolfold Viaduct, a five arch stone structure, in 1963 and it was demolished in 1977. This left a gap in the Kirklees Trail cycle path from Greenmount to Bury but this replacement was constructed in 2012. See image [[21383]] showing the original bridge in 1952. Vegetation growth prevented a direct Then and Now comparison and this picture was taken from the Bury side of the Kirklees Brook in July 2021 (and doesn't do full justice to this very tall structure.)

Nuneaton: Often seen, but rarely pictured - a Colas rail track machine tucked into the engineers' sidings at Nuneaton. Better looking than a class 70!
