Horton-in-Ribblesdale: Horton-in-Ribblesdale station was not particularly visible from the village, or even the steep approach driveway, but the new footbridge at the station has changed all that with two lift towers standing out against even a dull sky. This was the view on 4th November 2024, with the footbridge nearing completion but the associated lift shafts still needing work.

Horton-in-Ribblesdale: The new footbridge at Horton-in-Ribblesdale is nearing completion in November 2024, although there is still considerable work to do on the associated lift shafts. Previously there was only a boarded foot crossing here but a public footpath also crosses the line at the station, and leads directly from the summit of Ingleborough to Horton-in-Ribblesdale village, hence it is very busy. The short staircase to the side of the bridge will serve the footpath when complete.

Until 7th January 1963, at the start of one of the worst winters of the 20th Century which I can remember well, this station was also served by the Palace Gates (Wood Green) to North Woolwich service.

Strowan Tunnel: Cows graze where once the Crieff and Comrie Railway ran by the River Earn in a view looking west towards Strowan Tunnel. The monument on the right is to Sir David Baird. The cows can be avoided by using the core path not far off to the right.
