Bidston: 230010 comes off the Wrexham Borderlands Line into a very wet Bidston station on 16th October 2024. Turn round times for these TfW services in Platform 2 are very short, just the crew changing ends and then away again leaving the line clear for the fifteen minute interval Merseyrail West Kirby services.

Appleby: Believed to be the first time one of these Track Recording units has worked over the S&C, Network Rail's 153311 approaches Appleby station platforms while working from Newcastle to Derby RTC on 10th November 2024. The train had travelled via the Tyne Valley before joining the S&C. The ground signals on the right allow trains to reverse from the Up platform into the sidings on the old link to the Stainmore line. Picture by Oliver Wilkinson.

Dagenham Heathway: View west from a train of LU S7 stock on District Line service from Upminster to Richmond, calling at Dagenham Heathway at 14.32 on Tuesday, 5th November 2024. This station was opened as Heathway by the LMSR in 1932 for the exclusive use of District Line trains on the quadrupled section of the ex-LTSR between Barking and Upminster and renamed Dagenham Heathway in 1934. Main line trains never called here but the line and station remained in main line ownership into BR Eastern Region days until 1969 when it was transferred to London Transport with running-in boards and totem signs replaced by LT roundels.

Craiglockhart Junction: Re-signalling at Portobello on 6th September 1973 resulted in southbound workings running via Haymarket, Niddrie West and the direct line via Wanton Walls to reach the ECML. From memory, 1E07 was the 11.00 Edinburgh - Kings Cross and is approaching Craiglockhart Junction. Just beyond the rear of the train is the bridge which carried the line from Slateford into Princes Street station and to the left the connection opened in 1961 linking Millerhill Yard to the former CR lines.

Canterbury West: Armistice Day excursion from London Victoria, by the Railway Touring Company, behind Stanier Black 5 4-6-0 no. 44871 (1945) and with 47812 at the rear, at its destination at Canterbury West (where a two hours lunchtime break in the Kent city ensued), at 11.47 on Monday, 11th November 2024. Because of the level crossing at the south end of this station, the train had to move beyond the platform in the down direction, making it impossible, alas, to photo the locomotive 'full-on'.

Southport: The 'Sefton Sparkler' railtour returns from a visit to the Southport sidings, one of several bits of rare track covered that day, and runs back towards the station platform on 3rd November 2024. Note the 'Branch Line Society' headboard being carried by 507023.

Strowan Tunnel: A small girder bridge carried the Comrie line over the Downie Burn just west of the Strowan Tunnel. It was a single track bridge.

Horton-in-Ribblesdale: 158845, on a Leeds to Carlisle service on 4th November 2024, passes under the new footbridge at Horton-in-Ribblesdale as it slows to call at the station. While the work takes place the boarded foot crossing has been moved to the north end of the station, but will be removed altogether when the new structure is completed.
