Canterbury West: 395022, Margate to St. Pancras International, via HS 1 from Ashford International, passing under the elevated Grade II Listed signal box at Canterbury West as it slows for the stop at the station, at 13.24 on Monday, 11th November 2024. Black 5 44871 can be seen in the lower left background, awaiting the return leg of its Armistice Day excursion back to Victoria via Dover and Folkestone.
Normanton: 44828 waits time at Normanton, with the 04.25 Manchester Victoria to York, in May 1967.
Dumfries: The current station at Dumfries is a key stop on the G and SW Main Line and it dates back to the 1880s when it was built to replace two earlier sites (see later posts). When opened it boasted three through lines with bays at the north end of the station to accommodate services to Lockerbie and Stranraer Harbour which were lost in the 1960s. On Saturday 17th November 2024, 156458 waits its departure time with a service to Carlisle having not long arrived from the Border city.
Liverpool Lime Street: 142010 is going no further at Lime Street!
Lednock Bridge: Directly west of Comrie station the line to Balquhidder crossed over the River Lednock (left of bottom centre). The station site is on the other side of the main road. The line crossed the Lednock by a large girder bridge, since removed although the parapets remain. There was a series of three bridges here. To the south is bridge of Lednock, carrying the A85 over the river. To its north was the railway bridge and to its immediate north was another road bridge (which was built at the same time as the railway), now removed but replaced by a footbridge. The latter bridge can be mistaken for the railway bridge.
