Warrington Bank Quay: A fleet of MPV units based at Springs Branch undertake much autumn leaf busting around the North West. One such unit works back to the depot from Chester through Bank Quay, having been employed on the Merseyrail Wirral lines on 5th November 2024.
Port Erin: In July 1976, when this shot was taken at Port Erin, the Isle of Man Steam Railway only operated as far as Ballasalla on an out and back basis with only one locomotive in use. For the week that we were on holiday here it was No. 11 Maitland that was in steam.
Maidenhead: The main entrance to Maidenhead station from the town centre on 3rd December 2024.
Craigo: This is the site access road for the works to build a temporary bridge being erected just south of Craigo 'Box for access into Craigo village. The original stone bridge is being replaced.
Crystal Palace: Crystal Palace, the former Low Level station, looking west, at 12.09 on Saturday, 23rd November 2024. Originally opened in 1854 as the terminus of a spur from the London & Croydon line at Sydenham, trains were extended through the tunnel just visible in the background to a temporary station in Wandsworth in 1856 and finally to Victoria in 1860. Two platforms on a spur to Norwood Junction were added in 1857, out of view behind the wall on the left.
Morningside Road: West Coast 47802 leads the 'Polar Express' from Waverley to Gorgie Junction, seen from the Braid Avenue bridge.
Dalchonzie Platform: Directly west of Dalchonzie the railway entered a deep cutting and, almost immediately after that, crossed to the south bank of the River Earn via a large single span girder bridge, seen just beyond the cutting. The view looks west.
Keighley: Work on the multi-million-pound upgrade project at Keighley station is progressing well with significant improvements set for completion in the new year.
