Emerson Park: Emerson Park 'station', originally Emerson Park Halt (which it should still be known as), on the Romford to Upminster line in Essex and now a detached part of the London Overground, seen from the approach ramp to the single platform, prettily-situated in a dell, with its original wooden umbrella-style canopy, at 14.29 on Tuesday, 11th February, 2025.
Billingham: The cheery station serving Billingham, photographed in March 2012 with 142065 calling with a working to Middlesbrough. This was the second Billingham station, replacing the original one which was further west towards Norton and was closed on 6th November 1966 with the one illustrated opening the following day. It has now undergone changes with the original buildings demolished in 2023 to assist with the provision of lifts and a new footbridge.
Torre: February 2025 view of the fine station buildings at Torre, from outside alongside the road into and out of Torquay. It appears the Furniture store in Mark Bartletts 2015 picture [[72873]] is no longer here.
Kentish Town [LUL]: View up the recently refurbished escalators at Kentish Town station, LU Northern Line, at 16.17 on Tuesday, 14th January 2025. The station was temporarily closed on 26th June 2023 to carry out the refurbishment and reopened on 23rd December 2024, although the reopening date had to be put back twice as the work took longer than expected. Throughout the temporary closure, the Thameslink station stayed open.
Rochdale: The pedestrian subway at Rochdale station linked the east and west side entrances with the two island platforms. The east side island closed in 1979 and with it the subway beyond the surviving platform and the east side entrance. Trams returned to Rochdale in 2013 and the complete subway and east entrance were reopened two years later. This is the view of the old access to the east island platform. Trees now grow where there were once substantial buildings - see image [[44418]] from 1972.
Aberbeeg: Aberbeeg looking north in October 1979, with the remains of the station (closed 1962) visible. The line to the left is heading to Ebbw Vale and is still open, regaining a passenger service in 2015, and to the right can be seen the line which originally ran to Brynmawr via Abertillery. At the time the shot was taken it had been cut back to Rose Heyworth Colliery, which closed in 1986 so Aberbeeg was no longer a junction. The signal box lasted until December 1997. For a 1977 view from track level see image [[41599]].
Balgowan: This view looks east a little east of the site of Balgowan station. On the left is the Pow Water and on the right is the very overgrown trackbed of the former line. At the time of the photograph, beavers had been busy felling trees in the area.
Bedlay Colliery: In a shot thought to date from 1972, a BR Class 24 diesel and brake van return empty handed from Bedlay Colliery. Although smoke can be seen coming from the NCB pug at the colliery I think it was unable to function that day so there was no traffic to uplift and I presume the 24 had been sent up to the pit to check as usually the traffic was taken to the exchange sidings by the NCB locomotive.
