Welshpool Seven Stars: If you walk from the current Welshpool NR station to the Raven Square station, or vice versa, along the old trackbed through the town, you will encounter a number of interpretation boards. This one is number 6, near The Narrows, and is the only one accompanied by a mural.

Bog Junction: A pair of Class 20s working the 13.38 Sellafield - Crewe photographed in June 2006 passing Bog Junction which, despite seeing not a lot of trains, still manages to look important in terms of railway routes. The train is passing under the WCML and is taking the connection to Upperby Junction for its journey south. The other lines visible are left to London Road Junction for the N&C, the connection to Currock Junction M&C which the train is coming off and the other pair of tracks were for Rome Street but are OOU. Lancaster Green Ayre: Lancaster Green Ayre closed to passengers on 3rd January 1966 and by 1970 when this shot was taken it was in the throes of at least partial demolition. To the right is Greyhound Bridge, which was being converted for road traffic. The remaining single line was worked as a long siding from Lancaster Castle station for coal deliveries to Lancaster Power Station, until it ceased generating in 1976. The new ballast shows where the line was raised to cross the bridge access road on a level crossing. See image [[56954]] of the power station before closure.

Carnforth: A southbound freight approaches Carnforth station in July 1968, with the bridge carrying the line to Settle Junction just visible in the background. This was the last photograph I took of a BR steam hauled freight.

Glasson Dock: After nearly sixty years service, thirty eight of them operating from Ramsey, mainly to Glasson Dock, the well-maintained 'Silver River' general cargo vessel [[91418]] is offered for sale and her replacement, the 'Snaefell River' is now in service. A mere stripling at only thirty six years of age the 'new' vessel had arrived on the high tide at the NAABSA berth on the outer quay at Glasson on 27th April 2025. She has operated recently as the 'Leila' and the 'CEG Orbit' around European ports and rivers and in terms of deadweight is over three times heavier than Silver River.

Totnes: 50009 arrives at Totnes with 1A19, the 1100 Penzance to Paddington service on a cold January day in 1976. One does not see much snow in South Devon but there was some that day.
