Appleby North Junction: 'Britannic Explorer' preparations. GBRf's 66765 'Julie Garn' and 57310 'UK Railtours' ease out of Appleby North East Sidings on 25th May 2025, working 5Z76, the 1838hrs Penrith North Lakes to Ribblehead leg of GBRF's dry run ahead of the luxury service's maiden 3-night Lake District trip in July. The train stabled in the sidings but it is believed when operational it will overnight in the station. GBRF hired a rake of Eastern Rail Services stock for this trial, whilst the actual train undergoes final preparations in Hamilton ahead of its debut on 4th July with a trip around Wales.
Birkdale: 777047, Merseyrail Northern Line, Southport to Liverpool Central arriving over the level crossing into the attractive Birkdale station, its first port of call serving a well-to-do suburb of Southport, at 13.08 on Tuesday 29th April 2025.
Ryde St John's Road: Adam’s O2 0-4-4 tank No W27 'Merstone' at Ryde Shed on 21 September 1966. These Victorian locos would shortly call it a day when the line to Shanklin was electrified.
Oakworth: An extremely rare event of a steam loco running smokebox first downhill towards Keighley. Jubilee Class 45596 'Bahamas' approaching Oakworth with the 13:05 Oxenhope - Keighley on the first day of the 1940's Weekend, 17th May 2025.
Carnforth: West Coast's 37676 spent much of the 21st May 2025 in the Down Loop at Carnforth with a rake of ex-GWR MkIII HST coaches. There was also a MkI WCRC coach behind the 37, presumably acting as a barrier vehicle. The nature of the movement isn't known - but perhaps heading for the West Coast refurbishment facilities at Carnforth and waiting for room to enter the complex, which these days seems to be rather full of stock.
Boat of Garten: The Strathspey Railway opened for the season at the end of March, with every train double headed by the resident Ivatt Class 2s. They are pictured arriving at Boat of Garten with the first train of the day, 46464 leads 46512.
Glenfarg North Tunnel: Looking north in the northern Glen Farg tunnel with its brick-lined roof. The long gentle curve of the tunnel turn is quite noticeable in this view. To escape Glen Farg the line enters the tunnel going north at the south end and emerges at the other going west.
Hampstead Heath: 66533 passing Hamstead Heath with 4L36, a lightly loaded Wentloog to Felixstowe liner, on 30th April 2025.
