Scarborough: BR ran a number of regular steam specials to Scarborough from the York area back in the early 1980s. Here 5305 has arrived from York.

Dalry: A nice sunny day in 1973 shows Dalry station at its best. The view is looking north. See image [[8216]] for a shot taken from a similar position in 1987, by which time it was almost unrecognisable.

Tom-na-Faire Depot: Black 5 5407 receiving an extra polish in the early morning of 27th May 1984, the epic day on which steam returned to the West Highland line after an absence of 21 years. The sun was not long up, as can be seen by my lengthy shadow. I confess I would not have been out and about so early but for a restless infant son. A short run in the car to see what was what at the engine shed struck me as the perfect recipe for getting him back to sleep.

Ellon: Looking south through the site of Ellon station in April 2025. The Formartine and Buchan Way runs through the site and the degraded remains of both platforms are still in place, although building has taken place on both sides of the line. See image [[19541]] of the station in 1963.

Edgbaston Village [Tram]: This tram is awaiting the off in Platform 2 at the Edgbaston Village terminus, a few stops from Grand Central and opened in 2022. We had to wait for a tram to clear the crossover from the Platform 1 line (to Edgbaston) to the Platform 2 line to Wolverhampton before we crossed over to P2 on arrival. I was assured by the driver that alternate trams ran into P1; so I tried twice to grice it, but failed both times. Naturally, I then went off in a huff.
