Livingston South: 385003, on a service from Edinburgh Waverley to Glasgow Central, approaching Livingston South on 10th April 2025.
Aviemore: They still have proper trains in Scotland. Can you imagine 50 years old road vehicles still earning revenue? Preach over - this is a Glasgow Queen Street service running wrong line through Aviemore on 16th May 2025. Photted by Kevin Lindsey.
Cairnbulg: An April 2025 view over the site of Cairnbulg station. There is no railway infrastructure now but this intermediate station had a passing loop but only one platform. Trains continued to St. Combs crossing the road behind on a level crossing (See [[48334]] from 1953) and then followed the line of the footpath to the terminus.
Philorth Bridge Halt: The trackbed of the St. Combs Light Railway climbs away from the site of Philorth Bridge Halt towards Cairnbulg in this April 2025 view. The five mile line operated from 1903 to 1965, using a DMU out stabled at Fraserburgh for the last six years of services. Philorth Bridge Halt was behind the camera, but a private driveway now runs on the trackbed and there is no trace of the halt, but see image [[48605]] of it when open.
Carlisle Kingmoor Shed: Britannia loco No 70013 'Oliver Cromwell' is all spruced up at Carlisle Kingmoor Shed on 29 May 1967, but her real day of glory was yet to come on 11 August 1968 when heading the 'Fifteen Guinea Special'.
Burntisland East Junction: LNER Azuma 800105 passes the Links at Burntisland, with the 09.52 from Aberdeen to Kings Cross, on 28th May 2025. The Docks branch and engine shed were located to the right.
Balmanno Signal Box: View showing the former line close to Balmanno Castle where the motorway now occupies the trackbed. There was a signal box here (off to the distant left in this view) from the line opening in 1890 until 1926. It remained standing until at least the 1960s.
Rock Ferry: 777010, Merseyrail Wirral Line to Chester arriving at Rock Ferry, at 12.01 on Wednesday, 30th April 2025. On the right behind the advertising hoarding is the trackbed once used by the long-standing London Paddington to Birkenhead Woodside service, withdrawn by BR in March 1967. Diesel units from Chester and Ellesmere Port continued to use those platforms and tracks, although cut back from Woodside to Rock Ferry in November 1967 which saw Woodside finally closed and eventually demolished, until Merseyrail electrification was extended from Rock Ferry to Hooton on 30th September 1985.
