Pinkhill: Signage at Pinkhill station towards the end of 1967. Passenger services over the Corstorphine branch ended as from 1st January 1968 with the last trains running on Sat. 30th December 1967.
Morecambe South Junction: 67006 'Royal Sovereign' is on the rear of the Royal Train as it approaches Lancaster station where HM The King was visiting the city and wider county on 9th June 2025. The train then moved on to Clitheroe via Preston to collect the royal party for the return to London.
Warmley: Much of Warmley station on the Midland Railway Mangotsfield and Bath Branch Line has been restored to its previous state, with it now forming part of the Bristol and Bath Railway Path. 21st June 2025
Bromborough: Bromborough, looking across from the surviving northbound platform of the one-time four-platform layout, on 30th April 2025. Only two platforms survive along with this original building and the stairwells and covered footbridge to and from the ticket office. Passengers using this cross the abandoned trackbed once used by the Paddington to Birkenhead Woodside service until March 1967, robbing Birkenhead of its direct London trains. DMUs from Chester and Ellesmere Port continued to use the tracks, cut back from Woodside to Rock Ferry in November 1967, until September 1985 when electrification was extended from Rock Ferry to Hooton.
Southport: 777032, Merseyrail Northern Line at Southport at 13.21 and which arrived three minutes earlier with myself on board, having joined one stop back at Birkdale, on Tuesday, 29th April 2025. I allowed for an hour or so's break and a walk around Southport which I had not visited since the early 1990s, before returning to the station to start making my way back to Liverpool, stopping first to visit the Ormskirk and Headbolt Lane branches.
Edinburgh Waverley: Edinburgh Waverley platform 14 at 11.37 on 16th February 2012.
Castleton North Junction: The sun is rising over a frosty Castleton North Junction in October 2007 with the connection to Heywood going off to the right. The view is in the Manchester direction but with no sign of any activity in the PW sidings.
Edinchip Accommodation Bridge: In Glen Ogle the line had to climb hard to reach the summit. This view looks north west to the summit. In this view it almost looks like there was no route through. The rockfall which blocked the line is distance.
Glenfinnan: Black 5 44767 leaves Glenfinnan on its way back to Fort William with a 1985 ‘West Highlander’ excursion. Unfortunately I cannot remember why the Class 37 was present on the headshunt.
