Orbliston: Just ahead of the rain, 66746 passes the site of Orbliston station on 19th July 2025 with 1H90, the 12.00 Aviemore - Dundee leg of the Royal Scotsman 'Taste of the Highlands' tour.
Crewe: This Manchester to Euston Pendolino would normally use Platform 5 at Crewe, but a late running northbound service was occupying that on 4th June 2025 and it was switched to Platform 1 on the other side of the island. The approach to No.1 from the north always feels like a tight squeeze but 11-car 390104 threads its way through to call at the platform usually used by 3-car EMUs on the Manchester stoppers.
Bo'ness TMD: 'Morayshire' receiving some serious attention in the new repair shop at Bo'ness in July 2025.
Warrington Royal Mail Rail Terminal: Sad occasion. Friday 20th September 2024 was the last night of rail operations at Warrington Royal Mail terminal, with the final Class 325 EPU being loaded before leaving for Wishaw, Glasgow. The facility is owned by RM, but the tracks are Network Rail's, which recently diverted a failed train into the mail platform until it could be repaired or collected. Photo by Martin Williamson.
Aigburth: BEMU 777146, for working the non-electrified section to Headbolt Lane, on a Merseyrail service to Hunts Cross arriving at the charming Aigburth station, on the southern section of the Northern Line, at 10.55 on Tuesday, 29th April 2025.
Beaulieu Park: View from coach to Clacton-on-Sea, about to cross the GE main line, of the still-under-construction Beaulieu Park station, north-east of Chelmsford, looking towards Liverpool Street, at 09.48 on Tuesday, 15th July 2025. This station was due to open in 2019 but was held up by funding issues. Construction began in March 2023 and it is now expected to open in October 2025, at a cost of £160 million.

Loch Eilt: May 1985 saw the introduction of the ‘Royal Scotsman’ luxury train tour of the Scottish Highlands on an itinerary that included a steam-hauled return trip along the Mallaig extension. The early start of 7.15 am from Fort William gave rise to some impressive lighting conditions if the sun happened to be shining, as in this June 1985 shot of the train running along the side of Loch Eilt. The locomotive was Black 5 44767.
