Extension to Abersychan and Talywain opened to passengers. Track in the station was jointly owned by the London and North Western Railway and the Great Western Railway as the line met its Talwain Branch here.
18/09/1879Monmouthshire Railway and Canal Company
Talywain branch from Trevethin Junction to Abersychan and Talywain where it met iron works (including the British Iron Works) and colliery lines (such as the Varteg Colliery). The line replaced the early Cwmffrwd Railroad tramway.
