This single track three girder viaduct crosses the River Gala in the west of Galashiels. It is a reconstruction of 2015 of the original double track viaduct. Single track girders rest on the double track piers of the original bridge. At the western end the bridge crosses a mill lade and former footpath.
After closure in 1969 the bridge was converted into a footbridge, the footway on top of the girders, which were singled and placed centrally on the piers.
The line is single track between Bowland Junction, to the north, and the terminus at Tweedbank.
To the immediate east is the Plumtreehall Brae Footbridge. To the west is the bridge over Wheatlands Road - Bridge 95 and this bridge forming one viaduct - and the site of Kilnknowe Junction.
