This is a train loading point for opencast coal from the surrounding area. It is located on the private line between Butterwell Junction and Ashington Junction, close to the first junction. It consists of bunkers and looped sidings.
In recent years, from around 2011, coal was opencast at the site itself. The bunkers and other facilities were removed and the site used as a loading pad. The area to the west, formerly the stock area, was opencast and afterwards restored. The railway remains.
The line south of the disposal point was out of use for many years, but that to Butterwell Junction remains serviceable. A further loading pad Potland Loading Pad was added to the south of Potland Level Crossing around 2011 and is now out of use. A buffer was placed to the south of this pad, just north of the A1068.
