This tinplate works was located at Whifflet, south of Coatbridge, between Coatbank Street (to the east) and Dundyvan Basin (to the west). It was owned by the Coatbridge Tin Plate Co. The works was served from the north by the North British Railway and from the south by the Caledonian Railway. Sidings served various part of the works and there were turnplates to access certain parts.
Having been initially formed to make tinplate the works became a malleable iron works.

North British Railway - this was a siding from the Sheepford branch connection built in 1872 to replace the Monkland and Kirkintilloch Railway's original Sheepford branch alignment.
Caledonian Railway - this was a siding from the Wishaw and Coltness Railway's Dundyvan Basin branch built from the Monkland and Kirkintilloch Railway. (The W&CR had running powers, inherited by the CR, over the M&K between Whifflet [NB] (Dundyvan Basin Junction) and Whifflet East Junction.)
