Description

This was a four platform station in the south of Cockermouth.

It replaced the original terminus at Cockermouth [1st] of the Cockermouth and Workington Railway which was left on a short branch and became the goods and minerals station.

As first opened there were two through platforms, the westbound platform became an island providing a third and there was a bay at the east end of the eastbound platform. There was a goods yard on the north side of the line at the east end, approached from the east.

The site is now a mountain rescue centre and fire service headquarters.
