Craigendoran: Craigendoran pier, stations and junction. The pier and main station are on the 1882 deviation from the original route which ran parallel to the main road and has now largely disappeared (one bridge remains in a garden).

Opened on the West Highland Railway.

Description

This was an island platform station of the West Highland Railway Swiss chalet style directly alongside the station on the Helensburgh line and pier station. The West Highland joins the Helensburgh line just to the east of the station at Craigendoran Junction.

Part of the platform remains and the down line has been lifted from Craigendoran Junction through to the north of the station. The climb up from Craigendoran Junction to Helensburgh Upper is steep and tightly curved.

There were no additional goods facilities for this station.

The northbound sleeper suffers a four and a half hour delay when slippage stopped the train at Craigendoran Upper. An additional 37 was sent from Motherwell to assist.
