This was an ironstone and coal pit north of Lugar Iron Works within Airds Moss. It was served by a branch of the Lugar Ironworks Railway which struck off, near the Lugar Brick Works to run north east via Common Pit No 11 (coal) to Cronberry Pit No 1.
Following closure the site was used as a spoil dump.
The branch serving the former pit was extended north east to Cronberry Moor Mine by the subsequent owners of the iron works, Bairds and Dalmellington Limited in 1920. The line closed in 1957 with the mine.
