This sand pit, and a series of gravel quarries, were to the west of the Balloch Pier to Balloch Central railway alignment, close to the pier and shoreline. It was operated by P Cauldfield & Son Ltd.
The site is now Lomond Shores, its car parks and Sea Life Loch Lomond. The bay around which the development sits is the landscaped site of one of the quarries, a channel was opened to connect it to the loch. On the west side of the channel are the remains of Hogg's Boatyard.
