Name and dates

Gartcosh Brickworks Signal Box (1890-1964)

Opened on the Garnkirk and Glasgow Railway.

Description

This signal box was west of Gartcosh station. It controlled access to the Gartcosh Fireclay Works siding which was on the south side of the line and approached from the west with an exchange siding laid alongside the main line.

The box was on the north side of the railway to the east of the siding's junction with the railway, about midway between that point and the points for Gartcosh Goods a siding which was to the east.

The box closed in 1964.

A subsequent siding here, after closure of the works, served a Russell container depot.
