Here the Caledonian Railway's Greenhill Branch line from Garnqueen South Junction to Greenhill Lower Junction met the Scottish Central Railway from Greenhill Upper Junction to Perth. Both lines remain open today.
The signal box was located on the south side of the junction.
Just to the west was Greenhill Lower station, serving both the Greenhill Branch and the Bonnybridge branch. The branch line ran in parallel with the main line going east from the station, with a connection to Greenhill Lower Junction, before turning north to the terminus. The branch was singled in 1929, closed to passengers in 1930 and closed completely in 1965. Greenhill Lower station also closed although the line which served the branch platform remained in place until 1990 as a loop and the last remnant of Bonnybridge Junction Yard.
Greenhill Lower box closed in 1975, replaced by Greenhill Upper Junction box which was resignalled to replace several boxes.
The remaining lines are now electrified.
