Description

This two platform station was just to the south of the village of Greenlaw. The station had a passing loop on a line which was otherwise single track.

The station building, stone built and of two storeys, was on the eastbound platform, a waiting room with a canopy was on the westbound.

The goods yard was to the west, a loop on the north side of the line similar to stations on the Border Union Railway (North British Railway). There was a loading bank on the south side of the goods loop. To the east of the station was a siding which was connected by a tramway running south to Greenside Quarry. Lintmill Siding was a mile to the east.

The line east closed in 1953.

The signal box (1893-1953) was located at the west end of the westbound platform.

Severe floods in 1948 severed the line east by damaging the Blackadder Water Bridge (between Greenlaw and Marchmont) and washing away the Langton Burn Bridge (between Marchmont and Duns. British Railways closed the line between Greenlaw and Duns. The remaining Greenlaw branch did not re-open to passengers.

The line finally closed in 1965. A road bridge over the east end of the former station's loop was realigned a little to the east cutting through the former trackbed. The disused road bridge still stands.

The station building, which became derelict by the 1970s, has been rebuilt and is now a house. Short lengths of wooden retaining walls remain to the east of the realigned road.
