This was a coal loading point with stocking. The facility was opened by the Ministry of Fuel and Power which was created in 1942 during the Second World War.
The site consisted of two sets of sidings approached from the north east, from Lassodie North Junction. The sidings cut through the site of the former Lassodie Colliery Branch south to west curve. After the war it was operated by Whatlings Ltd.
The opencast was also known as St Ninians Opencast and provided coal for the Longannet Power Station.
It was just to the south of the site of the former Lassodie Colliery Pits Nos 10 and 11.
Closed in 1961. Nothing remains due to subsequent opencast operations.
Operated by Whatlings Ltd.
