This engine shed, a long two road structure comprising a smaller building to the east and long building to the west, was directly north of Kilmarnock Junction. The buiilding was double ended. The east end could be approached from Kilmarnock station and the west end via a headshunt also served from the east.
The site of this shed later became the location of a series of sidings, approached from the east.
Today nothing remains here and the lines open today have been realigned.
