This pit was served by two railways, both ultimately to be owned by the North British Railway.
The first was the extension of the Dykehead Branch built by the Monkland Railways in 1862. A short branch from this approached the colliery from the north east. The branch was double track, reverting to single having met the Dykehead Branch. Access was from the south.
The second was a short branch from the North Monkland Railway which met the first at the pit.
It is possible that the entire line serving the colliery was built by the North Monkland Railway - running from by Langdale Pit No 1 to join the extension of the Dykehead Branch.
