From this siding the Lochside Colliery Tramway ran west to the Lochside Colliery which was on the south side of Townhill Loch at its west end. The siding later served the Lochside Coal and Fire Clay Works within which there was a tramway. The siding was approached from the south west and was on the west side of the line.
