These mills were established in 1884 by the David Ballantyne company of Galashiels. Track embedded in cobbles remain on site. In 1981 the mill company became Robert Noble. The mill closed in 2015.
Rails were laid into the works from the Peebles Railway in 1885, known as Ballantyne's Siding to the railway.
